Bio

Alina Blossom Zadorozhna is a Ukrainian-born artist and the inventor of Lepidography™, a sculptural fine-art medium composed of hand-shaped silk-wing structures. Her work explores fragility, memory, displacement, and transformation through dimensional silk compositions that bridge textile sculpture, conceptual abstraction, and emotional narrative.

Her artistic practice is rooted in long-term material research. Beginning in 2015, Alina conducted an intensive study of silk transparency, pigmentation, and wing anatomy, investigating how heat, tension, and layering could replicate the delicacy and structural logic of wing membranes. During this early period, she founded a small atelier in Ukraine, where she produced miniature silk-wing studies and trained a team. These early works functioned as a laboratory for scale, form, and translucency, laying the technical and conceptual groundwork for her later fine-art medium.

In 2021, Alina formally began Lepidography as an independent artistic practice, transitioning from material research into sculptural authorship. Her early Lepidography works marked a shift toward dimensional compositions, where silk wings were no longer flat objects but sculptural elements shaped, lifted, and organized into spatial structures.

In 2022, the war in Ukraine forced Alina to leave her studio and home, resulting in displacement and significant material loss. From 2022 to 2025, her artistic practice continued under severe spatial and material constraints. During this period, she produced fewer works, often privately, working in fragments rather than complete bodies. This reduced output did not interrupt the evolution of the medium; instead, it deepened its conceptual foundation. Themes of rupture, concealment, memory, and internal tension emerged during this time and later became central to several of her series.

By 2025–2026, Lepidography re-emerged publicly with a more mature and resolved artistic language. Alina began organizing her sculptural silk-wing works into distinct conceptual series, including Specimens, Fragments, Duality, Eternity, Mandalas, Waterfalls of Wings, and Metamorphosis. Each series reflects a different structural or psychological state - ranging from fragmentation and duality to spiritual order and continuity - while collectively forming a coherent exploration of transformation and resilience.

Alongside her fine-art practice, Alina Blossom founded GiantFlowersUSA, a studio producing large-scale sculptural installations for cultural institutions, luxury brands, and museums, as well as Giant Flowers Academy, an educational platform in sculptural design. These practices expand her engagement with scale and spatial perception, while remaining separate from her Lepidography™ fine-art work.
